OBEY

OBEY Clothing draws inspiration from art, music and film to create its insouciantly cool line of streetwear and contemporary apparel. The company was founded in 2001 by American street artist and activist Shepard Fairey. The disruptive brand takes its moniker from the 1988 cult movie, They Live, which featured the OBEY typography. Shepard's influences for his pieces come from exploring the themes of power and conformity. The label repurposes Fairey’s provocative artwork on T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies and tote bags.

Collections from OBEY fashion are packed with collaborations and thought-provoking images. Slogan hoodies and graphic tees are crafted from soft cotton jersey and are replete with bold prints or more subtle designs. Jogging bottoms, puffer jackets, shirts, denim and relaxed-fit trousers complete the ensemble. Look out for statement knitwear, including cardigans, jumpers and vests in daring patterns and shocking brights.

Mix and match the collection or dial down the look with dark tailoring and trainers. Blending art, fashion and activism, OBEY combines minimal, utilitarian cuts with subversive graphics and brazen fonts. Every piece is stamped with the brand's iconic logo of a wrestler’s face: a scaled-down version of the first sticker campaign that Fairey created as a student at the Rhode Island School of Design.
