Steiff was founded in Germany in 1880 by seamstress Margarete Steiff. Intended as a pin cushion, the first product she created was a small elephant that became a popular children's toy. The classic Steiff bear, which made its debut in 1902, was the first in the world to have moveable arms and legs. Named after "Teddy" Theodore Roosevelt, the bear became a huge success – and you can now find a range of plush bear designs throughout our Steiff collection.  

Today, the German brand incorporates super-soft materials and thoughtful details across all of its designs. Safety eyes are used to help protect small children and beanbag filling allows the toys to sit up on their own. Some Steiff toys in our range are suitable for newborns, making them the ideal gift for a baby shower or christening.
