Havaianas Shoes

Havaianas is said to have invented the flip-flop and the design of its iconic slip-on shoe was based on the traditional Japanese sandal known as the zori. While the zori had soles made from rice straw, on Havaianas footwear you'll find textured rubber soles that resemble rice grains. Originally, the sandals only came in blue and white until a manufacturing error saw a green version produced. Nowadays, you'll find them in just about every shade imaginable. You can also expect floral prints, graphic patterns and even glitter-infused straps. Notice the brand name embossed or embellished onto the straps and soles.

As well as the classic slim soles, you'll also see flatform styles designed to elongate your legs and give you a little height. For extra security, you can opt for slingback designs. And while these flip-flops are ideal for holidays, they're also suited to everyday living. Wear them when pottering about the garden or as a cooler alternative to slippers.
