Her inspiration came from the traditional handmade notebooks that were fashionable among writers and artists in nineteenth-century Paris. Sebregondi pitched the idea to the small design company Modo & Modo, who produced only 5000 journals in the first year. Now, more than ten million Moleskines are sold annually.
