Arguably, only
Tom Dixon could make something as practical as a pestle and mortar look like it belongs in a contemporary art gallery – such is the skill of the self-taught British designer. The result of hours of grinding (the brand has its own restaurant), this set combines a smoothly finished block of white Morwad marble with a sturdy rounded lip and a pestle cast in polished brass with equally sleek curves.

<li>Please note: Rinse before use. Do not use abrasive or acidic cleaners. The brass will develop a natural patina as it oxidises. Wash with warm soapy water, and dry with a soft cloth. Do not leave soaking in water. Made from natural materials, colour and grain may vary. Foods with high acidity levels will accelerate the process of oxidisation. Caution when placing onto polished surfaces
