Lovely citrus and apple fruit combine with tight minerality in this Le Chasselas Selection Villette Grand Cru
wine from
Domaine du Daley. Swiss wine can be something of a rarity in the UK, and indeed anywhere outside of Switzerland itself with domestic consumption accounting for the vast majority of production, there isn't much left to go round! The history of Domaine du Daley can be traced back to 1392, and for five centuries the estate was owned by the Chapter of Saint Nicholas in Fribourg. In 1937 it was sold to one Charles Bujard, who set about modernising the vineyard, creating terraces, introducing drainage, and selecting the most successful vine strains. In this endeavour, he was aided by vigneron Julien Séverin, and it is now Julien's grandson Cyril who runs the seven-hectare estate, occupying a steep slope overlooking Lake Geneva.
