Trois Rivieres is a rhum agricole, this means it begins its life with only freshly–squeezed sugar cane juice and not the cheaper molasses by–product of the sugar making industry that most rhums use. And since rhum agricole can be made only when the sugar cane crop is at the peak of maturity, production is limited to the short tropical dry season. Trois Rivieres is from a 120 hectare estate in the sunniest part of Martinique and is boardered by three rivers, hence its name. The 5 year old has been aged in oak to give it an appealing brown sugar and banana flavour with a rich, spicy finish.
