Crowned as the commander of the “crow tribe” for his ubiquitous inky hue, Yohji Yamamoto electrified the 1980s fashion landscape with irregular cuts, asymmetrical silhouettes and considered drapery that abandoned the sculptural form of the body. Now, the designer’s astute eye for the avant-garde is preserved with his Y’s label. Spun from sumptuous silk, this midi dress is cut with slashed side seams neatly knotted with ties before it's patterned with abstract paint strokes.
