The Singleton of Dufftown’s 17-year-old 2020 Speyside single malt scotch whisky might swirl with notes reminiscent of summer, but that doesn’t mean it’s a tipple that’s only to be enjoyed when the sun’s shining. Just as suited to cold, wintery days, it’s matured in refill American oak hogsheads and marries honeyed and floral notes with smooth vanilla. Fresh pears, apple slices and honey play on the nose while the palate is smooth and the finish long lasting, smouldering with a hint of chilli.
