A pair of timeless winter boots is always a must for me

– Jeannie Lee (Head of Buying, Womenswear)

When it comes to canny sale tactics, sometimes it’s not about heading for the show-stopping pieces that you might only wear a few times, but more about the luxurious upgrades you can make on your everyday style. “I’ll be investing in well-made outerwear in the winter sale,” says our Head of Womenswear Buying Jeannie Lee, who will be wearing hers with casual trousers or high-waisted jeans for the evening. Long statement puffer jackets are teetering at the top of her wish list (ideal for all the walks and alfresco eating we’ll be doing this winter), as are cold-weather-ready cropped knit cardigans and recycled cashmere pieces.

I’ll be investing in outerwear made by heritage brands that have mastered the balance between luxury and longevity.

– Jack Cassidy (Head of Menswear Buying)

This season, our Head Menswear Buyer, Jack Cassidy, has his eyes on pieces that transcend the seasons. “There’s always room in my wardrobe for casual tailoring that can be worn all year round,” says Jack. “Also, if you’re looking for pieces that stand the test of time, you can never go wrong with high-quality knitwear.” The Selfridges winter sale is the perfect time to purchase a practical winter coat to see you through the seasons, and this year Jack is drawn to brands working with cutting-edge technical materials. So, what to wear with your winter jacket? “Relaxed-fit trousers are one of the most versatile pieces a man can have in his wardrobe – style these with trainers and a hoodie for the weekend.”

The Selfridges sale is a brilliant occasion for self-gifting. I believe in fate; if you see something you love in your size, it’s meant to be.

- Raffaella Fulgoni (Buyer, Accessories)

Every year, the most sought-after items in our sale are those that add a finishing touch to your outfit. “The Selfridges winter sale is the perfect opportunity to pick one exceptional piece that you will wear for years to come,” says our Accessories Buyer Raffaella Fulgoni Sheehan, who recommends looking out for subtly colourful accessories in emerald, aubergine and navy. “I’m keeping my eyes peeled for colourful bags in forever shapes from my favourite luxury brands,” says Raffaella, who is also looking to pep up her summer wardrobe. “The winter sale is such a great time to source pieces for the warmer months. I’m on the lookout for canvas and straw tote bags, wide-brimmed hats and turquoise jewellery.” Whether you’ve been searching for the perfect pair of shoes or have had your eye on that handbag for several seasons, the Selfridges sale is the perfect time to find prized pieces that you’ll love for ever.

If you’ve been eyeing something up for an entire season, now is the time to get it.

– Aj Dowey (Buyer, Mens Designer Street and Womens Designer Studio)

“I’m always looking for the next great piece I can throw on top on any outfit,” says our Mens Designer Street and Womens Designer Studio Buyer Aj Dowey, who is on the hunt for a casual winter jacket this winter. “It needs to be the perfect fit, while putting a little twist on a classic style,” he says. We all love a bit of hype, but with streetwear moving so quickly, Aj would advise thinking about how each piece fits into your existing wardrobe. “There’s nothing wrong with indulging in a logo-driven piece, and, of course, we all have our established favourites, but the sale is a great time to explore some lesser-known, newer brands that are set to be a big hit.”

I’m taking the winter sale as an opportunity to invest in premium tableware that will last a lifetime when taken care of.

- Eleanor Gregory (Buyer, Home)

With staying in the new going out, it’s more important than ever that our homes reflect our sensibilities. Elevate your living space with an array of home furnishings or use this as an opportunity to spruce up your kitchen. “After a year spent mainly at home, I’ll be treating my house to a few new pieces to add a bit of joy for 2021,” says our Home Buyer Eleanor Gregory, who is on the lookout for sleek tableware to take her dining at home set-up to the next level. “My kitchen has seen a lot more use this year, so I’ll be investing in good quality knives, forks and glassware to give my kitchen a lift.”
