KEPLER

Meet Kepler London: the womenswear label out to rewrite the knitwear rule book. Central Saint Martins textile graduates Alexandra Hadjikyriacou and Jaimee Mckenna launched the brand in 2016. It has since gained a cult following for its ethereal, often romantic reimagining of utilitarian style. And the name's origin? It comes from the discovery of planet Kepler-186f, which NASA found right before the pair joined creative forces – you might say it was written in the stars.

Kepler clothing is decidedly different, offering deconstructed takes on ready-to-wear with an otherworldly aesthetic. Hadjikyriacou and Mckenna make all the clothes by hand, meaning no two pieces are exactly alike. Our collection includes fine-knit dresses with split sides and oversized silk shirts. Semi-sheer fabrics are a prominent feature, along with cut-out details and unconventional combinations of ruffles and fringe. Expect the unexpected; from abstract Kepler tops to draping jumpers with raw-hemmed edges.

Cultural influences play an important role in the duo’s design process, resulting in unusual sewing techniques and fabric experimentation inspired by historical garments. You’ll notice religious iconography in several designs, with blurred prints of Jesus Christ being a recurring motif. The founders describe Kepler as, "something you’d want to see in a museum or in a gallery". We describe it as something you’d want to have in your wardrobe.
