Owned by the Vayron family since the 1840s,
Château Bourgneuf’s vineyards sprawl over 22 acres of the gently rolling Pomerol plateau in northeastern Bordeaux. Around 90 per cent of their grapes are merlot vines, with the rest being mostly cabernet franc – a ration which is reflected in this 2016 vintage from the estate, an opaque, ruby-red tipple with a smoky, creamy black fruit nose. Take a sip and you’ll taste its rich palate, the ripe tannins nestled in its firm structure, and its fresh dry finish.
