A third-generation producer of Mezcal, Maestro Francisco Ortiz, takes inspiration from an indigenous Mexican artform for its latest creation. Ojo de Dios or God’s eye, is the celebrated art of beadwork – a method that’s intricately done by hand to create traditional patterns over a layer of beeswax. Now to the tequila: distilled in copper still pots, it has subtle florals, white grapes and spicy notes while the taste is reminiscent of sweet dried fruit. We think it’s a welcome addition if you’re looking for a spirit that’s complex in taste and rich in heritage.
