We’re going on a magical ride at Selfridges London to celebrate LOEWE’s new collection, based on Studio Ghibli’s Oscar-nominated film Howl’s Moving Castle.

In the film Howl’s Moving Castle, Studio Ghibli whisks us away on a flying castle occupied by the wizard Howl. From 1-25 February, you can hop aboard at our London store, where we’re hosting a series of unforgettable events to celebrate the final collaboration between LOEWE and the Japanese animation powerhouse.

Mirroring key scenes from the film, at The Corner Shop you’ll find a sky-blue wonderland, with mannequins floating atop fluffy, white clouds and a 3D rendering of the castle inside the space. Across the store, you’ll also discover an extraordinary array of Howl’s Moving Castle moments, including a once-in-a-lifetime dining experience and a chance to immerse yourself among the clouds. Merging Studio Ghibli’s magical storytelling with LOEWE Creative Director Jonathan Anderson’s signature wit, the collection features the film’s beloved characters and scenes across clothing and accessories. “In the collection, we pushed creativity with bold, intricately crafted pieces designed to bring the world of the film, literally, to life,” explains Anderson. “Key pieces embody the beloved characters and backdrops, giving wearers the chance to identify with the film on a deep level and escape into its rich layers. It’s almost like virtual reality in wearable form.” The fire demon Calcifer dances over the house’s signature bags, while long, illustrated capes and a pair of pyjamas festooned with printed feathers represent Howl’s shapeshifting powers. The most impressive piece in the collection is the Moving Castle bag, constructed using offcut leather from the LOEWE studio.

Dolly’s on LG

LOEWE have invited French culinary studio Balbosté to take over Dolly’s Café, staging a once-in-a-lifetime dining experience based on the film. Sauces are served from tiny ceramic hats, and club sandwiches are made in the image of lush, rolling meadows. Desserts include glassy, cloud-like jellies, while cocktails froth and bubble.
