Highland Park is located on the windswept isle of Orkney. With hardly a tree in sight, the peat on this island is full of heather and gives a distinct character to the whisky. The Highland Park 50 year old is the distillery's oldest and most prestigious release. Only 275 bottles of this remarkable limited edition are available. It is a vatting of five casks distilled in 1960. Like all Highland Park whiskies, the 50 year old has been cask-harmonised, meaning that it has been refilled into casks upon reaching maturity in order to ensure perfect balance and consistency. Dusty wood and eastern spices combine on the nose, while the palate is full of muscovado sugar, orange peel, camphor and cloves. Inspired by the elemental forces of Orkney, each bottle is hand-crafted from sterling silver.
