If you think that Krug doesn’t sound very French, you’re right: the prestigious champagne house was founded in 1843 by Joseph Krug, a German native who had moved to France in order to create the best possible champagnes he could. And if you ask us, he succeeded with flying colours. Clos du Mesnil is the region’s most famous vineyard, planted exclusively with chardonnay grapes. It’s used to produce this Blanc de Blancs brut champagne only in the best vintages – this one’s from 2006, notable for its fresh purity, vivacity and balance.
