Our buyers’ fashion week wardrobes
If you hadn’t already noticed, it’s officially fashion month, people. So before our womenswear buyers jetted off on their oh-so-stylish travels, they gave us a sneak peek at the looks they’ll be wearing to the shows; the pieces that they've earmarked for their own personal stash – aka the crème de la crème of this season’s fashion bounty. Style inspiration doesn’t get much better than this.
The showy shirt
It’s the key piece we’ve all been clamouring for: the best-in-show statement shirt. Be it cut on the bias, asymmetrically hemmed, oversized or with extra-long sleeves – whatever the shape and fit, one thing’s for certain: anything but ordinary, please.
The dressed-up hoodie
Think hoodies are reserved for jeans or tracksuit pants? Think again. Wear yours over a standout skirt and heels to shake up the sports-luxe formula.
Minimal effort, maximum payoff
When you stick to a monochrome colour palette, getting ready in five minutes is a piece of cake. Just accessorise with a flash of colour to mix it up.
Trailing belts, oversized blazers and breezy, billowing fabrics: a relaxed silhouette on a hectic, work-packed day will make you feel like you’re walking on cloud nine. (Also, a godsend after a huge pasta lunch between shows in Milano.)
Easy as A, B, C
At Selfridges, we’re all about buying (and wearing) for the long-haul, and the perfect-fit jeans and a vintage-style slogan T-shirt are both stellar examples of classic casualwear that’ll last you the next 10 years.
Getting knitty with it
Patterned, emblazoned with logos and embellished to the nines – this is knitwear that’s designed to turn heads. Granny will definitely approve.
