Self Discoveries: five things you don’t want to miss at Selfridges this week

Welcome to Self Discoveries – our weekly round-up of extraordinary happenings across Selfridges’ four stores. This week, we invite you to join a series of in-store art events and workshops held as part of our State of The Arts campaign and discover our latest menswear pop-ups in the Designer Room at Selfridges London.

Skip Gallery at Selfridges London

Whoever said public art is just a load of old rubbish might want to take a look at the Skip Gallery. Landing in our Accessories Hall at Selfridges London as part of our State of The Arts campaign, this unique art space, founded in 2016 by creative duo Baker & Borowski (pictured), does exactly what it says on the tin: a real skip is placed in everyday locations and transformed into a gallery that’s open to all. At Selfridges, Serbian artist Maja Djordjevic will be in residence in the Skip Gallery from 4 to 17 March with an installation that explores the male gaze, while Paul Kindersley will be performing at the skip from 18 to 31 March, bringing his madcap drag art to our store.

Art workshops at Selfridges Manchester Exchange Square

Our State of The Arts campaign continues to celebrate the creative spirit as we invite you to join us for a series of workshops held by Manchester Creative Art Courses (6 to 27 March) in our Manchester Exchange Square store. Whether you fancy trying your hand at creating a piece of abstract art, or letting your imagination run wild with the self-expression drawing class, the workshops are open to beginners and enthusiasts alike. Who knows, perhaps you could be the city’s next L.S. Lowry...

William Farr at The Art Tank in Selfridges London

Installation artist William Farr is currently taking up a month-long residency until the end of March in our Art Tank, found in The Art Store in Selfridges London. In celebration of our State of The Arts campaign, Farr will create a series of awe-inspiring sculptural pieces using fresh flowers and waste materials. Farr will create a different piece each week, starting with the live creation of it at the start of the week, then interactive sessions towards the end of the week which are open to all. Interested?
