Fresh and rounded, the Barolo Monprivato by Giuseppe Mascarello e Figlio owes its flavour and distinctive taste to a delicate balance. Firstly, the limestone-rich terroir the Nebbiolo grapes grow on in Italy’s Piedmont region. Another factor is the winemaker’s traditional methods which follow processes that include little intervention, long fermentation and ageing in botti (Slavonian oak casks). Floral and densely fruity, this 2004 is one to serve alongside roast lamb.
