A man’s guide to:
shoes and accessories with attitude

From accessories that pack a serious sartorial punch to trainers that take familiar trends to new extremes, we’ve pinpointed the need-to-know styles that define the insubordinate flair of the season. Wallflowers need not read on.

The bling ring

After years of sleek, minimal styles, men’s jewellery is getting bolder (not to mention bigger). From Hatton Labs’ crystal-embellished pendants and iridescent chains to signet rings and necklaces from Versace that would make Mr T proud – we pity the fool that doesn’t revel in this return to bling.

Trending: chunky trainers 2.0

What’s that sound in the distance? Ah, that would be the heavy tread of the chunky trainer’s latest rival: the tank-tread trainer. From Prada to Givenchy, big rubber soles with oversized treads are the latest evolution of the bit-ugly-but-we-love-them trainer trend, and Acne Studio’s Boltzer trainers (pictured) are top of our wish list.

Trending trainer styles

The most hyped: collab kicks

When it comes to trainers, going undercover this season doesn’t mean fading into the background: it means getting your hands on Undercover’s limited-edition collaborations. Whether it’s NIKE or Valentino, Undercover’s Jun Takahashi has brought his futuristic, otherworldly vision to classic trainer styles. Now step to it, before they’re gone…

Tote-al recall

While our trusty belt bag is now an everyday essential, the tote bag has been gaining ground in the style stakes, making a comeback with futuristic finishes and streetwear-influenced graphics. Forget ideas of a tote being a smart or preppy choice – the likes of 1017 ALYX 9SM and Palm Angels are giving it a new lease of life.

All eyes on: FENDI accessories

Bold fluros? Check. Luxury craftsmanship? Check. A refined take on streetwear staples? Yup, that too. FENDI’s created some of the season’s most attention-grabbing accessories, with the double F motif and bug eyes emblazoned on belt bags, scarves and everything inbetween. Sign us up.

Red all about it

Head-to-toe red looks were seen across many a runway this season, but not all of us will be up for taking on the “postbox challenge”, as we’re now terming it here at Selfridges HQ. Luckily for us, the red trend has made it to shoes, accessories and some seriously eye-catching trainers (and who better here to assist than the master of red, Monsieur Louboutin?)
