The Marquis de Ségur, despite once owning both Chateau Lafite Rothschild and Chateau Latour, declared that his "heart belonged to Calon" – which is why a heart always appears on the label. The most northerly of the classed growths of the Medoc,
Calon Segur displays the full bodied, almost meaty style of St Estephe. Its 2011 bottling is a lush, well-structured mix of sweet plum juice, ripe blackberries and singed spices, balanced by notes of apple wood and a tinge of charcoal.
