Dream Space Live: Maxine Peake
14 October, 6.30–8pm, Men’s on 1, Selfridges Manchester Exchange Square, Price: £10
ABOUT THE EVENT
What does art have the power to do, when we allow ourselves to dream?
Actor, activist, writer and director Maxine Peake joins host Gemma Cairney for a special episode of Factory International’s Dream Space podcast, recorded live at Selfridges Manchester Exchange Square ahead of season four. Step inside Maxine’s mind as she conjures up her dream space on stage, then put your questions to her in an audience Q&A.
In Dream Space, Gemma explores the dreams of artists including Ai Weiwei, Marina Abramović and Nish Kumar. Each guest gets an imaginary space, infinite resources and a blank canvas. The challenge: build your dream artistic utopia.
Maxine was the podcast’s very first guest three years ago, and returns with a new dream. Born and raised in Bolton, she has a long-standing relationship with Manchester International Festival. She performed an acclaimed adaptation of Kay Dick’s dystopian novel They at MIF23, and co-created and starred in Robin/Red/Breast at Aviva Studios in 2024.
Selfridges and Factory International have been working together for 15 years, on a shared belief in what creativity can do when people are in a room together.
