Michael Brajkovich was the first New Zealander to become a Master of Wine, and it's his name that's behind this pinot gris from the Kumeu River Estate. That fact alone is enough to tempt anyone to pop the cork. His non-conformist approach showcases a marriage of Old World skill and modern ideas, and the restrained structure and discreet fruit notes are remarkably similar to a Burgundy in style. Versatile, too, this red can be enjoyed with the likes of creamy chicken, dim sum, ham and roast pork.
