At Selfridges, our vision is to reinvent retail while staying true to our purpose of imagining and creating a sustainable future for everyone.

Selfridges is more than a shop. It is a landmark destination and social centre where everyone is welcome. Powered by imagination and filled with creative spirit, we invite collaboration and congregation. From our in-house cinema, restaurants and bars, skate bowl and extraordinary cultural program to our ever-evolving roster of collaborators - artists, designers and innovative new brands - we are a creative playground in which to discover and share new ideas.

The only store to be named Best Department Store in the World four times, Selfridges is committed to transformational change across all platforms to make the act of shopping responsible, purposeful and riotously fun.

Selfridges was founded in 1909 by retail maverick Harry Gordon Selfridge. Harry Gordon had a revolutionary approach to business, putting theatre and experience at the heart of the Selfridges brand. We continue to honour this rich and storied founding spirit by weaving creative experimentation, activism, and cultural enrichment through our extraordinary customer experience.

Project Earth is our transformational sustainability strategy and commitment to change the way we shop and do business. The initiative builds on the industry-leading steps we’ve taken to place sustainability at the heart of our business and focuses on helping us all make meaningful changes by looking at the use of materials, trying new retail models and changing mindsets. From championing innovative brands and future-facing products to introducing new shopping models and banning single-use plastic, we’re constantly exploring new ways to reinvent retail and change the way we shop - inspiring our customers to do the same.

Harry Gordon Selfridge opened the doors of our Oxford Street store with the manifesto ‘Everyone is Welcome’ - something which we continue to stand by today. We are working to create positive change by increasing the visibility of underrepresented talent in our business and beyond. With our Broadening Our Buy initiative we’re dedicated to building a diverse network that gives minority-owned independent brands a platform to amplify their work.

Finding ways to make the world brighter is at the heart of what Selfridges stands for, and a key part of our ethos is supporting and empowering those in our local communities and beyond. Together with our team members and customers, we work with several charity partners in London, Manchester, Birmingham, and Leicester to help make a positive difference to our communities.

Our expert buying teams scour the globe for under-the-radar fashion talent, emerging sustainable labels, and UK based makers. Our mission is to discover and platform the breakthrough brands who are designing a brighter future.
