Sir Paul Smith’s London studio is quite literally bursting with creativity. There are towers of vinyl. Papers piled high. Toys. Ornaments. Things, lots of brilliant things, packed into every crevice and corner. Some sent to him from fans around the world; much of it collected. “This stuff has shaped my work,” he tells us proudly, standing in the centre of it all with a book of vintage fruit prints in his hand, “it’s where my ideas come to life.”

To celebrate his 80th birthday – and a four-decade-long friendship with Selfridges – Sir Paul has packed his colourful world into a MINI and parked it at The Corner Shop, dubbing it his Dream Factory. The bold curiosity shop tells the stories behind the Paul Smith brand, inviting you to take home a piece of his personal archive, an exclusive T-shirt or a frame lifted straight from the wall. Visit during office hours, and you can meet the man himself.

SHOP PAUL SMITH’S WORLD

Sir Paul Smith has made an art of British eccentricity and eclecticism. Over the past fifty years, his signature colourful stripes have stretched far beyond fashion, into all corners of design. At the Dream Factory, collaborations span Halcyon Days tableware, Brooks of England cycling accessories, Alessi Design kitchenware and made-to-order Mercian bike frames. All proof that Sir Paul can brighten up just about anything.

A limited-edition capsule of fashion and accessories celebrates the charm and eclecticism of Paul Smith’s creative world. Archive photos, playful designs and bespoke illustrations cover leather bags, totes and T-shirts created exclusively for Selfridges.

GO BEHIND THE SCENES OF PAUL SMITH

Sir Paul Smith finds inspiration everywhere, and so he’s filled his Dream Factory with the countless things that fuel his creativity. The artwork on The Corner Shop’s walls, tables, photography prints and limited-edition pieces from the designer’s personal archive are all shoppable – come along and take home a little piece of his world.

When you visit The Corner Shop, it’s a chance to dream with Sir Paul – at a signing of his memoir, Threads: My Life in Style; in conversations with residents and mentors from the Paul Smith Foundation; and at creative workshops with mentee and menswear designer YAKU, who’s hosting ‘bring your own shirt’ T-shirt printing sessions.
