The son of Tunisian wheat farmers, Azzedine
Alaïa's affinity for fashion was nurtured by the glossy pages of Vogue, instilling him with a drive to reach the glittering streets of Paris. Opening his atelier in the late 1970s, the designer electrified the capital with his second-skin silhouettes that question the boundaries between flesh and fabric, just like this midi skirt. Cut with a dipped waist, it’s swathed in a feathery velvet texture and stitched with stripes of ribbed knit descending its sculptural panels.
