The Ricoh GR IV Monochrome captures images with the refined rendering and rich tonal gradation allowed from its black-and-white dedicated sensor, while also benefiting from a built-in red filter and new image control options. The body’s design also fits this purpose-built effort, with a monochrome aesthetic and more portable build.

Monochrome sensor
Built on the evolution of the GR IV, the GR IV Monochrome relies upon the foundation of exceptional image quality, quick response, and portability, now paired with a monochrome-dedicated APS-C CMOS sensor and GR ENGINE 7. The AA-filterless, back-illuminated APS-C monochrome sensor, free from colour filters and interpolation, offers approximately 25.74 effective megapixels, that capture luminance, razor-sharp detail, refined rendering, and rich tonal gradation. This combination also enables stunning high-definition output, natural grain expression at high ISO, and remarkable light sensitivity up to ISO 409600.

Quality GR lens
An 18.3mm F2.8 GR lens draws out the full potential of the monochrome sensor, with 7 elements in 5 groups for improved sharpness across the entire image. The result is clarity, depth, and tonal subtlety that black-and-white photographers crave.

In-built red filter
A physical red filter integrated into the lens unit can be toggled instantly via the Fn button, unlocking classic monochrome looks straight out of the camera. Deepen blue skies, boost cloud contrast, and brighten red subjects.

Advanced image control
New monochrome-specific Image Control modes expand creative possibilities. ‘Solid’ delivers crisp contrast and refined edges, while ‘Grainy’ evokes the texture of silver-halide prints with controlled highlights, deep shadows, and expressive grain visible even on smart devices.

Speed, stability, and control
Enjoy ultra-fast shooting with an electronic shutter up to 1/16000 s, ideal for wide-aperture work in bright light. A 5-axis image stabiliser provides up to 6 stops of compensation, while quick startup and fast autofocus ensure you never miss the moment.

Monochrome design
The magnesium-alloy body is finished entirely in matte black, from the shutter release to the ring cap, paired with a subtle semi-gloss black GR logo and white power-button illumination. The tactile, understated design embodies the essence of black-and-white photography.
