Award-winning menswear designer Martine Rose has kept us all on our toes, waiting for her debut footwear collection as Guest Creative Director for Clarks. She debuted the designs at her namesake label’s SS24 show last year and now, to celebrate their launch, we’ve turned The Corner Shop at Selfridges London into an experiential space inspired by childhood nostalgia and the Coming Up Roses campaign.

THERE WAS SOMETHING SO HAPPY ABOUT GOING TO CLARKS AS A KID; YOU REMEMBER THAT SPECIAL DAY, GOING TO GET YOUR FEET MEASURED FOR YOUR NEW SHOES. WE WANTED TO BRING THAT BACK, THAT FEELING OF NOSTALGIA.

DISCOVER THE COLLECTION

For the SS24 Coming Up Roses collection, Martine Rose took classic Clarks silhouettes, and reimagined them with her own, subversive aesthetic.

The classic Oxford is puffed up to exaggerated proportions, toeing the line between smart and casual. Penny loafers have a new, chunky wedge heel and colourful snakeskin prints, shedding their prim-and-proper reputation. Strappy sandals are made squishy with supple leather, and the suede Torhill Hi now have chunky platforms and a variety of prints.

STEP INTO ROOMS WITH A (NOSTALGIC) VIEW

At The Corner Shop, you can take a walk through Martine Rose’s SS24 Coming Up Roses campaign, exploring a series of bedroom sets inspired by vintage Clarks posters from the 1980s that likened the supreme comfort of Clarks shoes to being in bed. Take a seat on one of them and experience Clarks’s classic foot-measuring service. “We looked at various bedroom archetypes, then put these personal spaces into the shop setting… By creating a familiar space, I hope there is going to be a playfulness and a humour that people are all in on,” says Rose. “There was something so happy about going to Clarks as a kid; you remember that special day, going to get your feet measured for your new shoes. We wanted to bring that back, that feeling of nostalgia.”
