    When designing their collection for Alessi, Guido Venturini was inspired by the openwork of a piece of lace, and the way the stitching weaves in and out. It might be made from gold-toned stainless steel, but this centrepiece is rooted in style. Note how its latticed shape creates a scalloped border around the concave dish, while its cutout design also happens to be handy for keeping fruit aerated and fresh.
