Royal Copenhagen
When Juliana Marie took the throne as Queen of Denmark in 1752, it became her sole mission to improve the country's economic conditions. Aiming to use local raw materials while recruiting local employees, she founded Royal Copenhagen in 1775 and used her family's knowledge of porcelain production to create both fine crockery and a thriving community.
Set on having a trademark on the designs that left the factory, Queen Juliana introduced the ceramist's iconic three waves signature. The trio of wavey lines were stamped onto the back of each of Royal Copenhagen's creations, symbolising Denmark's three bodies of water, the Sound, the Great Belt, and the Little Belt. Today, you'll spot them printed beneath a crown, added in honour of the founding monarch.
If you ask the brand, it will tell you that royal buffets are only complete with a matching crockery set; discover coordinating porcelain tea cups, mugs, plates, and jugs within our selection of Royal Copenhagen creations. Set the table with these hand-painted designs and await your guests' arrival before the next black-tie banquet. And for low-key garden parties, serving boards and snack bowls are on hand to display your culinary creations.
