The Peak District might not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of whisky, but that’s about to change thanks to the work of White Peak. Derbyshire’s first whisky distillery (located at a heritage site, no less), it sources its water from its local river, uses hand-built copper stills, and sources its casks from family-owned businesses. The Wire Works Alter Ego whisky is a lightly peated single malt with notes of rich fruit and vanilla.
