A pioneer in the horology world, the Swiss watchmaker was founded in 1917 by brothers Fritz, Ernst and Werner Schlup, with an initial focus on watch movements. Fast forward to 1957, and the trio launched their own business under the name Rado, meaning "wheel" in Esperanto.

Rewriting the codes of watchmaking via the introduction of scratch-resistant ceramic, the brand went on to incorporate this innovative material into bracelets, crowns and cases.
