John Hancock, Robert Wilson and Robyn Wilson—and later, Warren Gibson, too—make up New Zealand’s Trinity Hill; the producer is known for its consistently drinkable, precisely balanced wines. One of them is this 2016 Syrah; deliberately youthful, its palate is fruit-dominant with fresh blackberry, spice and liquorice. Pairing this red with beef is a fine choice, of course, but there needn't be an excuse to crack it open.
