The brand was launched by Danish confectioner Johan Bulow in 2007. Liquorice (in Danish, lakrids") is a classic treat in Scandinavia, and Bulow felt the strongly flavoured sweet deserved more appreciation. He learnt to make it and then opened up his own shop in Svaneke, a small town on the Baltic island of Bornholm. Today, you can pick up a variety of Bulow's creations - try enjoying them with a strong coffee for an afternoon energy boost. In 2009, Bulow began coating his liquorice in chocolate and a whole host of yummy versions followed: think white chocolate, caramel and lemon.
