In Oregon during the early 1900s, Joe Rawnsley, a weaver for
Pendleton, spent time with local tribes to learn about the colours and patterns they used in textiles. With this knowledge, he made layers to sell to and trade with them. Since then, these patterns have become part of the design history of the West. The
Pueblo Dwelling cotton terry-toweling robe is swathed in a motif that hails from 1923, where the arrows symbolise the paths of life while the stars represent the spiritual guide for the local's communities.
