Mary Bumby moved to New Zealand in 1839 taking with her, not a tea set or silverware, but two beehives. While the decision might have seemed eccentric at the time (and probably would today as well), this is what lead to the creation of 1839. There’s no secret ingredient swirled through its UMF 20+ Mānuka honey, just triple churned, you guessed it, Mānuka honey – the only variety tested and found to contain such large amounts of antibacterial properties FYI.
