The shape of each vessel in the Seven Sisters collection—a collaboration between
1882 and Bethan Gray—is inspired by the bottle kilns of Stoke-on-Trent, in particular the seven kilns at J and G Meakin’s Eastwood factory. The inspiration for the hand-painted pattern, though, can be found about 4,000 miles away from the English midlands, on the sails of the Dhow boats which used to speed across the Gulf of Oman.
