Brighter days ahead and the start of spring signal new beginnings, and that includes the beauty world. From the latest make-up drops to embracing the pastel eye trend, and a certain Jenner’s first foray into fragrance, our senior beauty editor shares the discoveries you need on your radar.

1. The perfume that broke the internet

Kylie by Kylie Jenner, Cosmic Kylie Jenner Eau de Parfum, from £34

In just a week, Kylie Jenner’s first fragrance landed, sold out and is back again! Available exclusively at Selfridges, Kylie describes her fragrance debut as “a sweet, warm floral that is perfect for day and night”. The perfume opens with blood orange and jasmine that dries down to a powdery, vanilla amber, giving the feminine scent a sexy edge.

2. Pastels made easy

Victoria Beckham, EyeWear Eyeshadow Stick, £32

Pastel eyes are officially back. ‘Blue eyeshadow’ searches are trending on TikTok, and we spotted pops of pink and lilac backstage at AW24 fashion month (more on that here). This playful trend doesn’t need to be complicated or require make-up artist skills to achieve; switch out palettes, brushes, and expert blending for a one-stop wash of colour. Victoria Beckham’s powerful EyeWear sticks come in three new shades, including this beautiful cornflower blue. Simply swipe onto the lid and buff in with fingers or a brush.

3. From Korea with love

Innisfree, Daily UV Defense Sunscreen SPF 30, £22

New to Selfridges, Innisfree brings the best of Korean science and natural ingredients to create an effective (and affordable) skincare line for all skin types and ages. Star ingredients include green tea (to hydrate and soften), a gentle skin-nourishing retinol, and black tea (an antioxidant that speeds up the skin renewal process and protects from future aggressors). Their award-winning mineral and oil-free sunscreen quickly sinks into the skin for lightweight hydration that won’t clog pores or leave a white cast behind – perfect for the warmer weather on the horizon.

4. The spring collection to bag

NARS, The Afterglow collection, from £27.50

Every year, NARS brings out a limited-edition collection for spring/summer, which make-up lovers (including myself) try to snap up. This year’s Afterglow collection is made up of an Irresistible Eyeshadow Palette that holds 12 shadows across pink, peach, gold, and neutral brown shades for a warm, sunset effect. Already an Afterglow convert, one of my favourite lip formulas for everyday wear is the Afterglow Sensual Shine Lipsticks that deliver creamy, sheer colour with the moisturising effect of a balm.

5. Matte lips, but not as you know them

Westman Atelier, Lip Suede Matte lipstick, £45

Matte lipstick has a bit of a reputation. The expectation is that you’ll need to compromise on comfort when opting for a bold, pigmented lipstick with good staying power. However, Westman Atelier is reversing stereotypes with their new matte lipsticks, expect cushiony comfort alongside vivid, suede-effect colour thanks to hydrating peptides and vitamin E – so you can kiss goodbye to drying or feathering.

6. Make-up for men

Obayaty, Skin Perfector, £43

This just in: Obayaty has arrived (exclusively at Selfridges) with an innovative collection of skincare and cosmetics uniquely designed for men. It's brimming with active ingredients and make-up-skincare hybrids promising instant and long-term results. From the Eye Booster, a cooling and hydrating eye cream with a light tint to conceal dark circles, to a colour-correcting lip balm and the Skin Perfector, a daily moisturiser that enhances natural glow – everything is housed in sleek, refillable packaging reminiscent of something from James Bond's bathroom cabinet.

7. (Not so) quiet luxury hair

OUAI, Hair Gloss, £30

The ‘quiet luxury’ hair trend is still very much of the moment (more on that here), which means luscious, glossy strands are where it’s at. Enter: Ouai’s Hair Gloss, a brilliant treatment-meets-styling product that not only makes your hair look shinier but also treats hair damage and protects the hair up to 230°C against heat styling. Apply it on freshly washed hair as you would a leave-in conditioner before styling – and if you have thin, oily hair, this can replace your conditioner as a hydrating treatment.

8. Look-at-me lashes

REFY, Lash Sculpt Mascara, £20

REFY’s latest launch is all about lashes. The TikTok favourite dropped their first mascara, which caught attention thanks to its unique curved comb-like wand that targets each lash to separate and lengthen. The jet-black, non-transfer formula sculpts and sets each lash without clumps or smudging (even after a packed Central line journey).

9. Your secret to dewy skin

Tatcha, Luminous Dewy Skin Mist, £48

Glowy skin season is upon us, so allow me to introduce Tatcha’s Luminous Dewy Skin Mist, the miracle elixir that soothes, hydrates, and gives skin a dewy sheen. Slot it into your morning skincare routine for instant and long-term results – Akita rice and hyaluronic acid nourish and detoxify while Mozuku algae and amino acids promote natural skin turnover to reveal brighter skin. I keep a bottle on my desk and spritz throughout the day to refresh make-up and give skin a boost.

10. Spring base

Lisa Eldridge, Seamless Skin Enhancing Tint, £37

If, like me, you opt for a lighter base throughout spring and summer, Lisa Eldridge’s new Seamless Skin Enhancing Tint is for you. I was lucky enough to recieve an early sample and have been putting it through its paces. It’s a light, almost gel-like consistency that melts into the skin for a fresh, luminous complexion. The hydrating formula contains blurring pigments that reduce redness and even out skin tone. Think your skin, but on its best day. Highly recommend.
