Shafer Vineyards traces its beginnings to 1972 when John Shafer left a 23-year career in the publishing industry and moved with his family to the Napa Valley to pursue a second career in wine. The Hillside Select is a Cabernet Sauvignon produced from 14 rugged vineyard blocks in Stags Leap District, Napa Valley. Complex, yet balanced, it's rich with notes of plump black fruits, grilled herbs, ember and cedar. 2016 was a record year for the winemaker, producing a velvety, rich tipple with silky tannins and a hint of violet spice.
