Celebrating the 100th anniversary of Bauhaus (now those are a lot of candles to fit on a cake), Italian design house Alessi is re-releasing designs from its archive, this ashtray included. Designed by the German artist Marianne Brandt, it combines the form and function principals that the design house was built on – the idea of bringing art to everyday objects. Taking minimalist design cues from the movement, the spring-like cigarettes-stand and tray are cast from shiny polished stainless steel; a little piece of art history in your home.
