Growing on sandstone, shale and clay soils, the Pinot Noir grapes blended to create this 2016 JH Meyer Wines Elands Rivier were planted in 2008 and handpicked in the early morning from the same vineyard in South Africa’s Elandskloof Valley. Aged for 11 months in old French oak barrels, it’s then blended to create a rich, full-bodied vegan and vegetarian wine that marries tart cherry with fruity notes balanced by a hint of citrus and spice.
