Remelluri's Gran Reserva is layered with notes of concentrated black cherries, red liquorice and ripe strawberry fruit, overlaid with savoury, spice notes and elements of tobacco and cedar wood on the palate. The vineyard's high altitude and cool climate yield low quantities of fruit, but this means high concentration and complexity. The grapes for this wine are entirely estate based and spread over a multitude of small, terraced plots, which is unusual for the Rioja region.
