Macan is a joint venture between two of the biggest names in wine - Vega Sicilia and Benjamin de Rothschild. Based in Vicente de la Sonsierra in Rioja Alta, they have purchased 80 hectares of vines from 70 different owners and set about making a modern, full-bodied style of Rioja, aged in a combination of new French wood barrels and barrels that have been used for one year. The resulting wine is bursting with ripe berries, liquorice, spice and dried flowers.
