In the heart of Itata and at 300 metres above sea level sits Portezuelo. It’s where the Pais grapes for the Pedro Parra Vinista are grown on vines that date back 120 years and are handpicked before being sorted and then fermented in a mix of concrete and stainless-steel tanks. After around a month, the wine is then transferred to a foudre for a year and then in bottles for eight months before it’s released. Bursting with red fruit, the result marries berry notes with herbs and spices.
