When designing their collection for Alessi, Michel Boucquillon and Donia Maaoui were inspired by the landscape of the Tuscan town they call home. It might be made from mirror-polished stainless steel, but this centrepiece is rooted in nature. Note how its concave, elongated shape evokes the structure of a tree trunk, while its intricate openwork is evocative of bark (and also happens to be handy for keeping fruit fresh).
