The brand: Bottega Veneta
It’s been nine months since Daniel Lee made his debut as Creative Director of esteemed Italian house Bottega Veneta to ginormous critical acclaim (he rewrote the luxury fashion rule book with pared-back minimalism, modern leather craftsmanship and unexpected details, after all), and the pressure of being the most-hyped designer of the moment certainly isn’t showing. For Resort 2020, Daniel wanted to shake up the idea of sophistication, telling Vogue.com that ‘Bottega is a very grown-up house, for sure… But it is something we can have some fun with, too – just thought-through fun.’ Cue pieces you never knew you wanted, such as twisted leather dresses (note the orange hue), outsized intrecciato-woven shoes in joy-inducing red, and, of course, bags in ever-more slouchy, cloud-like shapes.
