Created out of a desire to be the world's most innovative denim, this Italian brand began in 1978 during a worldwide oil crisis. Founder Renzo Rosso chose the name Diesel to emphasise the fact he was unafraid and unwavering in his quest to be alternative (diesel was then considered an alternative fuel).

In keeping with this theme of innovation are the label's knitted snakers. These contemporary-style shoes are made from a lightweight, breathable knit and lined in leather. Thick rubber soles are a reminder of the brand's rebellious reputation and come engraved with its logo.
