The son of Tunisian wheat farmers, Azzedine
Alaïa's affinity for fashion was nurtured by the glossy pages of Vogue, instilling him with a drive to reach the glittering streets of Paris. Opening his atelier in the late 1970s, the designer electrified the capital with his second-skin silhouettes that question the boundaries between flesh and fabric, just like this midi skirt. Cut with a plunging V-neck, this velvet style is knitted with slender ribbed stripes and softly pooled at the centre with ruching.
