In 1824 Alexander Reid, a Scottish farmer, obtained one of the earliest licences to distill whisky and leased 8 acres of land to establish the
Macallan distillery. The 1824 series are the latest releases from Macallan and have a sherry oak influence. The Ruby
single malt scotch whisky is the deepest of the four in the series and has the most obvious influence from the wood. Disturbed from a long sleep in a dark and quiet warehouse, European oak piques the nose before reluctantly admitting rich, dried fruits and an edgy trickle of treacle. The finish is long, lingering and reflective.
