The name A Bathing Ape is a play on an old Japanese idiom meaning ‘a bathing ape in a lukewarm bath’, or a sort of ‘slovenly overindulgence’ (unsurprisingly, it’s typically said about young people by those from an older generation). To be fair though, if the results are T-shirts as good-looking at the new rainbow ape design, a bit of overindulgence and slovenlines is okay with us.
